4 Types of Content to Build Links and Increase SEO

Link building is a common technique used to increase the number of inbound links to a webpage with the goal of increasing the SEO.  Content is a great way to increase your SEO, but there are certain types of content that work better than others.

1. Visual Assets

Visual assets such as images, diagrams, infographics, and charts are very easy to link. Whenever someone shares the image, the link you have attached to this image will also be shared.  This link sharing via images is not so easy to do with text-based content, which is why visual assets are so valuable.

2. List Posts

List posts are any types of post that include a numbered list of tips, steps, or strategies, such as “40 Free Tools, Templates & Trials to Help Grow Your Small Business”.  List posts are very easy on the eyes and help make large amounts of information more easily digestible for the reader.  Because of the ease of these type of posts, people are much more likely to enjoy reading and sharing the posts, resulting in the generation of more backlinks.

3. Original Research and Data

New data from studies, surveys or original research are great ways to grow link building quickly. Data is something that should always be cited, so when someone is sharing your original research they will likely link it back to you.

4. Ebook or Guide

With the large amount of information covered in an ebook or guide, it usually becomes the go-to resource for the given topic.  When the content covers numerous keywords, it’s more likely to be shared and linked to than short articles with little information.
